My experiment setup would be as such. Take 15 plants, place them in identical closed boxes, water them all three times a day with the same amount of water, ensure external temperature is the same in all boxes. Basically make sure that all 15 plants are in EXACTLY the same conditions, this means that there is only ONE variable, your light-intensity. Then split the plants into 5 groups so that each group has three plants. Give each group one of the following light intensities.

    100% light intensity
    75% light intensity
    50% light intensity
    25% light intensity
    0% light intensity

The experiment works if there is only one variable, and so all other conditions are kept the same. By having three plants in each group, you increase the reliability of your data.

You can do the same thing but for water availability. For example, keep 15 plants in the same conditions, water some of them 3 times a day and others once etc. Then compare the growth of the plants. You should see that the ones that are watered most grow the most (until a critical point, after which you may start flooding the plants).
