If FeCl3 is dissolved in water what complex ion forms? Is it [Fe(H2O)6]? Or does it contain chlorine? Also what would happen is excess zinc powder and KCN were added to separate samples of the complex ion?

Some mixture of complexes with both water and Cl- acting as ligands..

Zinc is a strong reducing agent, Fe(III) is an oxidizing agent.

CN- is an eager ligand
