I'm doing Physics a level and have been interested in astronomy for a while -can anyone recommend any good astronomy books please? I'm looking for encyclopedia-type books which are all about space, the solar system, galaxies, maybe some general relativity etc

e.g. Universe by Kauffman and Freedman, the Cosmic Perspective ( is the second one any good?)

If you want lots of information, go for the Phillips Astronomy Encyclopedia, it's massive!

You're probably looking for astrophysics books instead, astronomy books will tend to inform you about telescopes and various coordinate systems.
