Is IGCSE regarded higher than a GCSE or are they the same thing really?

Stop hyping your gcses they mean **** just get all A's and A*'s. Them 3 required average A*AA for a lot of the courses at theses uni's but you need to make sure you can offer other qualities such as having a gold award in DOE or doing a lot of charitable work or being in the cadets you cant just have all these grades

Oxbridge just care about your grades and interest in the subject/course so your 'advice' is slightly off. However Imperial may care more for extra-curriculars. Also, GCSEs don't mean '****' - also pretty poor advice - you shouldn't discourage him/her from doing well.
