I am considering going to Northumbria University next year so I wanted to ask you a few questions?

    - How have found Newcastle so far? Is it pretty, are the locals nice? what about the university buildings? are they modern and shiny? or old and cosy?

    - Accommodation? Both private and uni-based. What is the price of a single room at 15 min walking distance from the center? What is the price of a studio room at 15 min walking distance from the center?

    Thanks

I'm at Northumbria but live at home while studying. As a local I like many others here am quite nice and honestly do think Newcastle is a good city to live in. A lot of the accommodation seems to be quite new so modern and shiny from the outside. I haven't heard any complaints from people on my course who live in halls.

This should give you an idea of prices.

Come up on a weekend and see what kind of vibe you get.

I can speak for private based.

I lived both a 15 minute walk and a 5 minute walk from the centre.

15 minute walk: 5 bedroomed house at 68gbp a week.
5 minute walk: 3 bedroomed HOUSE at 72gbp a week.

I can't speak for studios but I imagine you're not getting anything for less than 110 that close to the centre.

If you're willing to go further, to a 15 minute bike ride you can get great houses for 50gbp a week.
