The game begins on 12th June 2014. So it seems a little early but the excitement has already begun and what better way to start than having one place to discuss it all leading up to the event!

My money is on Belgium to demolish their group and reach the semi-finals before being knocked out by a South American team.

England will be discarded to the mediocrity of the quarters after scraping past a relatively 'easy' opponent in the last 16.

I reserve the right to hold off on naming who I think will win

Edit: My revised prediction

4 Appearances for Sweden in 2010, but they didn't compete in the World Cup finals.

I see.. well they won't be playing at all this time. The captain has a bit of an ego don't you think?

I can't believe England couldn't even beat the USA last time, that was embarrassing. I'm hoping for a re-match.

There are 22 players on the pitch. Stop focusing on only two, its stupid
Come on who really gives a shut up about Hugo Almeida or Fabricio Coloccini?

The 2 players most likely to produce something absolutely spectacular and win their team the game.

Not a chance, Brazil will do well but they definitely won't win.
Brazil will definitely win u saw the way they demolished Spain in the confed cup final? And it's home ground

On an individual level yes, but relative to the chance of something absolutely spectacular being created by the other 20 players, the chance is relatively smaller. Which is why I tire of people merely focusing on Messi or Ronaldo, as they pay no respect to the contributions of the rest of the team, which, on aggregate are much greater than the contributions of Messi/Ronaldo.
If I want an amazing all round team performance I'll watch Germany or Spain. Neither Argentina nor Portugal are going to entertain you thoroughly if that's solely what you want. Having the best two players in the world however is entertaining and always will be.

Portugal and Argentina are both amazing all round teams, they are unequal in their distribution, but there are no bad players in those squads.
