protein shake problem

Ok, ive started weight training just to get into shape and im taking protein powder to help me along. There is one problem though (god im going to sound like an idiot) i cant seem to mix the powder with the milk properly and its only half mixed and there are lots of lumpy bits of powder that i cant get to dissolve properly. ive tried putting in powder then adding the milk and getting the milk first adding a tiny bit of powder at a time while stirring briskly with a fork, they both end up lumpy and the texture is sh|t. oh and btw, i do have enough milk im not trying to make a paste just incase someone thinks thats the problem.
does anyone know the secret to mixing powder and milk without having lumps.
thanks!

sift it in with a strainer
Or don't stir with a fork. Stir with a whisk, or use a blender or something.

I used to have this problem. Put about an inch and a half of milk in the bottom of the cup, then add all the powder. Mix it into a paste and then add the extra milk.
just stir it up and drink the suspended lumps. Its really not that bad.

Well, get one. Manual whisks are about 50p at most.

Why the need to post anonymous? I just use a blender and water, never get any lumps.

i've been weight training for a while but never used protein shakes. is there any major benefit to using them?

heres a benefit...they are REALLY DAMN EXPENSIVE.....and that isnt a benefit....

they're only a benefit if you can't eat enough protein from normal food.
Heat it up in a microwave.

the more protein ya have in your body, the easier it is to repair muscles, therefore you'll get more growth..
However protien isn't a miricle drink...but every little help's...

Whey protein shake really isn't that expensive at all...a kilo of shake mix can be as little as ÂŁ10, and that'll last well over a month (unless you're having 2-3 a day)

Wont heating it up in a microwave denature the protein though or will it be fine.
Oh, also the protin i gor was pretty cheap it was ÂŁ20 for 1.32kg which isnt all that bad. plus you need protein for muscle growth and its recommended you eat at least 1g per lb of bidy weight and i just cant manage that in food
