Is it ok if I write e.g instead of writing for example or thru instead of through, because I am running out of characters

No. It's a formal piece of writing and so you should write formally. It's the only example of your written work that admissions staff will see, so you want to create a good impression.

If you are running out of characters, be ruthless about what content you NEED to include, and try rephrasing things more concisely.

Mhm I see...instead of grateful OP soon gonna be writing 'gr8ful' in his PS (thus it's called ''personal'' ). Instead of one to one, '121' , instead of tomorrow, '2moro'... than the end of the PS: ''YOLO - run out of space hoes!''
