Medicine Question regarding Surgery

Can someone please tell me what the technique the surgeon is applying between 6:28 - 6:38 ?

What is it called? Stitching?
What is the material he uses to apply the 'stitch'?
What kind of surgery involves this technique?

He's just suturing at that point.

There are a number of materials that you can use, each with various pros/cons. Generally, they're split up into synthetic (e.g. poliglecaprone) and natural (e.g. silk) materials, either monofilament or polyfilament (i.e. lots of fibres twisted around each other). You could then further subdivide into absorbable and non-absorbable.

Pretty much every surgery will have suturing of some variety, perhaps with exception of superficial and minor operations.
