If a module is double weighted

If a module is double weighted, i.e. 40%, how does it affect your overall mark?

Cos all you do with your marks in double weighted modules is multiply them by 2 but you still count the assessments so for example, if you have 10 assessments in other modules and 3 in the double weighted one, overall you have 16 assessments to tot up as opposed to 13.

So what's the point?

Thanks.
Maybe the double weighted one has twice as much content as the other modules?

Say you have 4 modules, 3 of them 20% each and the final one is 40% (double weighted).

If you had 3 assessments for each module then the 3 from the double weighted module would be worth 2x so each assessment from that one would be worth the equivalent of 2 assessments from the other modules?
