hi
could anyone possibly give me a definition of opportunity sampling.
oooh and also advantages/dissadvantages of it????
thank u!

Convenient or opportunity sampling. This is the weakest form of sample selection. Data are collected from individuals who are conveniently available. For example, 6th-grade students who happen to be in instrumental music might become a "convenient sample" when you need middle schoolers’ opinions quickly. Those who use convenient or opportunity sampling argue that some student data are better than no student data at all, but the dangers of generalizing faulty findings because of a lopsided or "stacked" sample usually outweigh the benefits.

Disadvantages - It technically is not a fair and unbiased sample, therefore the results may not be truly representatitive of the population involved. i.e.) If everyone in that required population was tested and the results taken, despite it being laborious, then the results collected from this may be different to the ones collected through opportunity/convenience sampling.

Advantages - It allows a larger quantity of sampling much more easily and quickly. Usually the results collected are relatively accurate for that targeted population, therefore it can be a much more convenient method than testing the whole group/population involved in the sampling.
