It's just some people's way of being affectionate.

If you don't like it, just say! The people doing it probably don't even think!

And sometimes it can be just what you need.

People don't usually touch you to annoy you, it just happens that they do. That's how I tolerate it. I hate contact like hugs and stuff most of the time, but I grin and bear it because I know they mean good.

If they're doing it to bother you that's another story, you need to stand up and tell them to stop.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. It's usual amongst close friends as well.

totally, but you can tell from your relationship with the person, why they are doing it.
hm ok well I guess I posted cause my netball instructor is like that even though im 19 he has always been like this and is the same with kids but yet hes not like that with others my age, could it be because im small and look young do you think? He doesn't even like me as he won't let me on his team thats why I don't get it. Its no big deal but people like that annoy me really.

So your 40 y/o teacher touches little kids? You say it's in a totally friendly way but you still feel weird about it? Why do you feel weird about it? Also he touches you but not others your age? Are you male or female? What makes you feel uncomfortable? Is it that you don't like being touched?

You're 19, an adult, if you don't like someone touching you, then you have a right to say so. It's your body and you don't have to put up with people touching it, no matter how innocent, if it makes you uncomfortable.

If you can't say it straight, make a joke of it...'oi, watch where you're putting your hands' or something like that, so he won't take a offence but will get the message.

Just be like, "Please don't," and move away if you don't want people touching you.
