Hope someone can help me with this, I slept with a girl a few months ago and ive just heard shes pregnant off one of my mates she works with, It was a one night stand which meant nothing to either of us and we were both blind drunk, the thing is now everyones telling me that she slept with half the town. Im not worried about catching anything becouse i got checked out last month, but this baby could be anyones, can she make me take a test by law or could i refuse to. :confused:

Courts may demand a dna test if she decides to go for maintenance or anything like that (i think). I wouldnt worry about it, chances are you're just paranoid because you slept with her.

Surely it'd be sensible and responsible of you to take the test, just in case. You can't be certain it's not yours.

You should probably do the test, it'll put your mind at rest and help you decide what to do. Otherwise the kid might just try to track you in 18 years time and things could get messier.

yes i think she could still make you do the test...the DNA test seems like the best idea even if it's for piece of mind. you could sign over your parental rights (but another guy may have to be willing to take on those rights, i'm not sure). if he/she is your child r u sure u don't want anything to do with your child? hmm i'd talk to her, don't trust rumours at work, see what she says, and if you have doubts also tell her that.

Why the hell would you want nothing to do with your own baby. That's so horribly irresponsible. You had a one night stand, be a man and face the consequences. You're not just talking about some free accessory that turned up in the post and you don't want, you're potentially talking about your own child. I don't know whether you legally have to take the test but you damn well should. Alternatively build a time machine and go back and use a damn condom.

If she applies for maintaince to the CSA (if she goes on benefits she'll have to) and your name is on the birth certificate then it'll be assumed your the father although you can dispute paternity and take a DNA test. However she can also apply to the courts to make you take a DNA test but to be honest there is no gain to this unless she wants to apply for maintainence. If you are the father the CSA wont be interested if your involved in the childs life or not, you've be liable to pay maintainence.

You chose to sleep with her, you took the risk and therefore you're just as responsible as she is for this baby. You have a duty, not just to her, but to the baby and yourself, to find out if you're the father. And remember to be more careful next time if you're not prepared to have kids.

Sounds like shes caught something... pregnancy... which is why ya should do the glove bit, it'll also mean you wont get randoms ringing you up threatening pregancy after a one night stand.

I expect your mates winding you up... but If not dont refuse to take the test, you might as be a man about it and make her get the paternity test so you find out for sure if shes telling the truth. It'd be better than having niggles in the back of your mind.

could u really live wondering if there was a baby, that u were dad to and needed u?
end of the day, takes 2 to tango! whether she tangoed with many ppl or not, u should have known that there was always a chance with a condom!
so live up to it!
better than in 18years when ur married and with kids, or wateva some youngster turns up lookin 4 u, which al cause problems in ur life then!

You should definitely take the test. If the baby is yours then it is your responsibility to at least pay for it's upkeep. I'm not sure where the law stands on this but I would have thought that they can force any man who could potentially be the father to take the test. As indeed they should.

You SHOULD take a test to find out. If it is yours then you should help out your child. Unless you're a cowardly little boy. In which case you should crawl back into your mother's womb.

well lets put it this way, few months down the line when the baby is born you decide to help out only to discover years later it isnt yours! so then you've become attached to this kid only to have her take it away..

do yourself and the baby a favour and get the test done..

also are you at uni? how old are you?

Oh and before you do that speak to her to find out if its true :wink:
