Why is it that everyone nowadays has to be an emo, a chav, a goth, a grunger, scene, a townie, a skater blah de blah etc

It's becoming an epidemic!!

Houston, we have a problem. A 16 year old post-GCSE adolescent is questioning labelling - subdue him, quickly!

because we are all judgemental.
we see someone.we judge.and put them into a category, which doesnt always have to be a correct label (or correct in the way that the person sees themselves) theres not really a need to ask why.imo, its just human nature.

It makes it easier to insult someone - if you have some set insults for each catagory, then when the time comes to hurl some unprevoked abuse at someone, work out quickly what catagory they're in then you've got all the right ammunition!!

Eg:
Chav/Skal/townie - use a Devvo quote
Goth/greebo/whatever - 'What the f**k are you wearing?'

Before I knew that, I thought Emo was a cousin of Ernie & Bert's.

That makes me Emo... ...best go find some depressing clothes and write some poetry about how alone I am then...

tbh as mentioned above, it's just the way the brain functions, first impressions and all that. It is very easy to put someone in the wrong group at first, but somewhat comforting to put them in any group, just so you think that you know something about them.

Whatever happened to scallies? They were the first generation of chavs (but maybe only in the north west).

Nah. A scally is a rogue. They're acceptable in my opinion.

Chavs/townies/neds are scum, and I hope each and every one of them dies spitting blood.
