I just want to know why everyone thinks social conformity is such a bad thing?
Does it hinder development in some way?
Also how do you think it may be bad for people with dyslexia?
I am thinking of doing a study on dyslexia and conformity and want to know how exactly this may be a bad thing? in other words why would I want to research this? the short answer is that i have no other idea but i obviously cannot put that in.

Entirely depends on the context. What sort of situation are we talking about here? Conformity in what aspect of society? Fashion or serial killing?

So what if you happen to want to live your life as the majority do without external influence?

Then such conformity would be incidental. I should think we're concerned with active adjustment.

I don't see why conformity is a bad thing necessarily. If people want to follow the trends then its ultimately their choice. Arguably people who deliberately try to be non-conformist end up being conformist in the end because they conform to non-conforming.

I agree that it shouldn't be a matter of antagonism, but I think we should be encouraged to explore our perspectives before conceding to anything social. Hasty decisions to "run with the pack" are just as unhelpful to people as forcing yourself to run against the pack.

I see no link between conformity related discussion and dyslexia.
