Commuting from Belfast to Magee

Ive applied to do nursing at Magee, and just wondering if anyone has resided in Belfast but commuted to Magee for lectures etc? As I've seen nursing students having placements all over Northern Ireland it seems but im unsure on what the timetable is like for nursing and if it would be better to move to Magee or to stay in Belfast and use the Belfast and Jordanstown campus where possible to do work closer to home.
Any help on this would be great!

Me too it's so nerve racking... I'm only applying to UU this year. Would be delighted if I get in. The more I think about it the more I want it opposed to QUB and so won't be applying there this year. Aww LD really?? So hard to get in with so little places but best off luck... Any particular reason? LD is the only one I hadn't really thought about. Only because I have no experience what's so ever in that field and therefore wouldn't stand a chance. Xx

I love l.d and had previously been in touch with queens about the course too. Ive worked with loads of various l.d's and it's probably the one area I enjoy best. Applied for adult for the rest as I hope to specialise in l.d but would be nice to have the other experience too. So either way im not bothered what unu I get into so long as its one of them!

Aww that's brill. It's fantastic u've got all that experience in that field, it will definitely strengthen ur application. Yea I get what u mean. For the last year I had been set on Children's nursing and then decided to change . Ideally I'd love to work in NICU and I heard u can do that through, Midwifery, Children's or Adult. So I decided Adult as I think it has more scope to work with and more opportunities, even thinking about long term and maybe living in US or Australia , it's good to keep my options open. If ya think about it it, Adult nursing kinda gets a mixture of all branches thrown in together, Eg in A&E there will be, patients off all ages including Children, patients with Mental Health difficulties and Learning Disabilities . Also after spending my placement on a maternity ward the midwifes there advised me to do adult ( general) . They said if you do kids, midwifery etc ur stuck in that field whereas if u do Adult u can do 18 month conversion. So I think I've made the right choice. I also travelled down to Derry/ Londonderry and went to UU open night and loved it. Xx

The 212 bus is a two hour commute from Belfast to Londonderry.

Edit: With regards to NICU nursing, you would have to do some childrens nursing training, as far as I know. Same with all other branches.

Im aware of the route and buses etc.
What u want to know is if people do it who do nursing and how they find it?
And if its financially worth it.

Sorry! I totally picked you up wrong! lol

I have two friends who do the commute from Derry to Belfast - they get the bus at half 6 for to be in for class at nine. It's tiring but I think they love the course so it's worth it for them. I think it is prob £50 a week - there might be a deal for students, I'm not sure.
