Anyone lived in Ifor Evans Place?

I've got an offer for accomodation in Ifor Evans Place, I've heard quite mixed things about it and was wondering if anyone could tell me what it's really like to live there? Bit worried about it being on the main road - is it very noisy? Also is it mainly first years who live there? Thanks!

Ifor evans isn't too bad actually - i lived in pooley but i had a lot of friends in ifor and albert stern (next to it) - the road noise is fine it's all sound proofed - and almost everyone in halls is now a first year as they have stopped granting 3'rd years halls (much to my annoyance) - in summary decent halls and nothing to worry about - hope it helped

really? I'm a 3rd (final) year student. Didn't live in halls in my first or second year though so maybe that's why I got a place.

I don't think it's true. Final year students are still allowed to get a place in halls.

They are. Maurice Court I have just been given an offer for. So final year students are allowed in halls of residence.

Ifor Evans, I'm sorry, but its the most appalling block that QM has. Only thing going for it, is its close proximity to the sudent union.

Westfied Way is where you really want to be.

What's so bad about it?
I don't really care about it being on the opposite side of campus from the student village, although I don't really like the idea of living on the main road. Thing is i don't know anyone who's lived there before, so have no idea what the rooms are like, and i don't want to be the only 3rd year living with a group of 1st years.

I lived in pooley last year, however loads of my mates lived in Ifor. Yes, pooley and all the westfield way halls are a bit plusher, however the atmosphere at Ifor was really cool. The flats are set up completely differently as they are multifloored( a staircase going up with a kitchen at the bottom, and rooms and bathrooms comming off at different landings), as opposed to pooley traditional linier corridoor flats, and all the flats at ifor face a courtyard which means that you are force to see every1 else who lives there- in the end that works out much better you meet far more people. At the end of this year i went to a bbq in the Ifor courtyard, every1 knew every1 and it was such a chilled out friendly atmosphere. Dont worry about anything Ifor is cool. However the view aint all that lol either mile end road or a grave yard lol

ifor is fine it's just not as new and quite as nice as the student village halls - and i asked the residences office about a week ago - unless there are extenuating circumstances 3'rd yrs aren't given halls - i applied for them but because i had been in pooley first year they wouldn't let me and said it would only be if my circumstances changed (ie. parents moving to another country or at least the other end of this one) that they would put me on the waiting list !

i lived in ifor evans last year, it rules for it sheer communal atmosphere alone! i would not change for any other halls even if they were cheaper (ifor is also the cheapest) everyone i spoke to in other halls envied the fact that the ifor evans students mixed so well. many a drunken night was had in the communal courtyard.

granted its on the main road which is a bit iffy but if you wanna make friends, you've picked the best halls.
