Foreign students at Reading?

Hey everyone, i'm considering applying to uni of reading but i was wondering whether the uni welcomes international/foreign students especially those who might still struggle with the English language. Thanks

Hey there  I'm a first year student, who isn't from the UK either, so I can tell you from my experience that there are lot of international students here from all over the world, which is nice, because you can make many friends with people with different cultures, languages, etc. As for the English, I think that everyone who comes and lives here gets used to it at some point - I had problems with understanding of my British flatmates at first, but now I'm ok with their accents, also the university offers good support if you have problems. I really like it here, so it is a good choice in my opinion, good luck! If you have more questions, feel free to ask

I'm studying the Finance and Investment Banking course, which is quite good in my opinion. As for the nightlife, I really don't like going out that much, but from my flatmates I know that every day (except Sundays I think) there is a good party somewhere, it's in а different place for the different days, there are good clubs in the town. Come to the open day, if you can, they are making a lot of campus tours, so you can experience the university yourself  the Whiteknights campus is really big and green btw ^^ Good luck with your application and feel free to ask me if you have other questions

Hi, I'm really glad one of our current international students has given you their personal experiences of the university. Thanks CherryCrush! I let our International Office know that you were interested in the provision for international students here and they have asked me to post the following information: "Thanks for your message. Yes, the University of Reading welcomes many foreign students each year, both international and from the EU. We currently have over 5,000 international students from 140 different countries and there are currently around 40 students from Portugal studying with us. We do have English Language entry requirements, but we offer a full range of English Language support, via pre-sessional courses to help you get to the required language level before you begin a course with us, and ongoing in-sessional language support. You can find out more on this here: http://www.reading.ac.uk/ISLI/english-language-courses/pre-sessional/islc-pre-sessional-introduction.aspx
If you have any further specific queries, feel free to email us directly on [email protected] ". I hope this is useful additional information which will complement CherryCrush's very helpful personal insights
