Sort of having trouble linking these two to my personal statement. I spoke about thalidomide and the whole tragedy but has anyone got any other ideas ?

All help would be greatly appreciated !

Maybe write about ways in which thalidomide-type mistakes can be avoided e.g. biosynthesis to produce a single enantiomer

I maybe mistaken but wasn't thalidomide originally a single-enantiomer ?

No, it was a racemic mixture. Only one of the enantiomers was thought to cause birth defects, but supposedly the human body metabolises them to a racemic mixture anyway.

Still, stereo-specific drugs are probably a good thing to write about in a pharmacy CV.

I wrote about the thalidomide tragedy and aspirin production

Got 2 offers and an interview so they must've liked it (only applied to 3 pharmacy courses)

You will hear about the thalidomide tragedy so, so many times. You'll know it backwards
