Help me lose weight!!!

In the past month or so i've managed to lose 2" off of my waist (30" to 28") and i want to lose more and get more toned but i'm finding that i'm getting really hungry despite the fact i'm eating well. How do i put off the hunger?!

I do 20 mins everyday on my exercise bike and various stretches and crunches.
One thing that is really getting to me is that i can't seem to lose my post baby belly, it sticks out at the bottom and just doesn't seem to go in regardless of what i do, i need some tips for some great lower abdominal exercises!!!

Thankies

drink loads of water would make you feel less hungry

you can put off hunger by eating lots of food with little calorie content, like cucumber and things.

does work..

i second the water - not only for it's filling abilities, but also it will help detoxify yourself.

Do more cardio work. 20 mins on a bike a day is fairly/too gentle. Try swimming, as it uses your ab muscles more intensely.

When I'm trying to cut out the calories I avoid bread (full stop) and dairy products as well as meat (white meat occasionally) - so for breakfast I'd have fruit rather than cereal with milk or fruit/natural yoghurt.

If you make your diet dairy free you are bound to lose weight because lots of fattening/calorific foods contain dairy.

Drinking lots of water is what *everyone* should do.

Oooh forgot to say i'm vegetarian although sometimes i have the odd bit of fish but really not that often.... i can't get to the swimming pool cos i have 2 kids! So all i have is my trusty exercise bike, one of my probs is the kids, 20 mins without my attention and they get a bit annoyed.... most of the time i'm doing crunches with one of them sat on my belly lol

Your 20 mins exercise per day is fine, but perhaps try and increase it to 30-45 minutes if possible, or you could try doing 30 minutes twice a day or something.

Carry on with the abs crunches, sit ups etc.

dont just go cutting whole food groups out of your diets, thats really bad for you. you just need to eat it in moderation.
A few things, though this sounds stupid and illogical, it's recommended that women, particularly those of a depressed/depressive nature, that you eat a bar of chocolate each day. This raises your serotonin levels, and makes you want to do more. if you want a low fat way to do this, you can get chocolate cereal bars such as coco-pops and special K with chocolate.

If you like to snack, get something thats filling without being bad for you, again, a cereal bar, or you can grab some fruit. Maybe be adventurous with your fruit to stop it being dull. Also yoghurt can be good, bio-pots are fantastic for you, though beware, wholegrain yoghurts have actual wholegrain which is nasty imo.

as for losing the weight, did you know that you have different levels of fat. They have been called different names by different people, but i think of it like this, you have the larder fat, this is the easiest layer to get rid of. Then you have the fridge, this takes more work (because its colder obviously ;-) ) then you have the freezer fat (which is frozen) which takes real hard work to get rid of, and you can be talking about months of exercise etc. It sounds like you've emptied the larder, and now the results aren't coming so fast, this is because you're in the harder fat zone now. So persevere with what you're doing. but try to do it more than once a day. As for having a kid on you while you crunch, it may well be beneficial. makes it harder work.

It all has to be in proportion. Its no good exercising and eating crap. and its no good eating good foods and not working out.

Good luck with it though, I feel your pain.

Do 20 mins but work harder?
then say take the kids to the park, 20 min walk, and play with them,
takes ur mind off the food, they get the attention and burns calories for you!

if u search on the internet, u will find many different ab exercises, with pictures and videos of how to do them, which is more accurate than me trying to explain!

Thanks so much for this advice... i have pretty much cut out all the crap lol.... except the past couple of days i've caved for some damn hagen dazs and stuff lol... but in general im snacking on rice cakes and virtually no fat yogurts....

I'll stick at it believe me! Just never 'eat for 2' lol

Ive jst realised that your waist is 28" !!
Surley thats around a size 10?
Or maybe im mistaken?

What size are you looking to be?
and how much do you weigh?

Reply 14

Well that's the thing, I think i'm still inbetween a 10 and 12... I have quite large hips and a big J-Lo ass although not as pert lol... i'm about 5' 7.5" and the last time i weighed myself which was about amonth ago i weighed like 11 stone 1lb or something along those lines... which came as a shock... i think i want to get down to around 9 1/2 stone or maybe settle for 10st which would still be fine for my BMI.

To give you more of an idea:
Waist : 28"
Waist from where my belly button lies is 30"
(^^^^ The difference that there is is what i'm hating it looks odd!)
Hips: 37"
Bust: 36"

Maybe a lot of it is i need to tone up some more, i'm starting to get a little bit of muscle definition at the top of my stomach (nearer to the ribs) but from belly button down nothing much seems to be happening, i'm not sure how much is fat and how much is just loose skin to put it bluntly. :p:

Eat less, drink more water, more cardio.

I'm also trying to lose weight. I've already lost a good amount--I don't weigh myself but my clothes are all hanging off of me. I've cut my caloric intake and I work out 5 times a week, cardio for 40-50 minutes and weights 2x a week.

I'm hungry too! But my biggest trick is caffeine-it's an appetite suppressant. I either drink diet cola or coffee/tea with artificial sweetener (Splenda). If you put a bit of milk it's probably about 25 calories and fills you up. And you can have 2 or 3 cups of tea without getting jittery (wouldn't suggest that with coffee though!)

Try drinking pomegranate juice too. It tastes lovely and it also gives me energy, so that could help with your exercises.

Protein is great for filling you up. Try to include some protein in all of your main meals and in some of your snacks. It will also help you feel alert too. Low fat protein is best when trying to lose weight so things like low fat philadelphia on rice cakes might be a good snack for you. Also mini babybel lights are good for filling you up. If you like salads you can throw in something like chicken or turkey with loads of cucumber, lettuce etc which should relaly fill you up but doesn't hav many calories.

Good luck!

Protein good at filling you up? Low fat protein? Lumps of cheese to help reduce calories? Hmm.
