Any sunbed pros out there??

Ok so I'm going on the stand up sunbed a few times before my holiday. I go away in 11 days, and just want a bit of a glow before I go. So far I've had one session, that was on Tuesday for 4 mins, I'm going to go on again tommorow, saturday, monday, first thing wednesday morning and thursday evening, possibly Saturday. I just have a couple of Qs before I go again tommorow.

I tan quite easily, I'm not really a burner, should I go on for 6 mins instead of 4 on a stand up or is that too long? Also, I figured I should moisturise beforehand, can I just use normal moisturiser or should I try an accelerator? Has anyone tried one before? I know these are all Qs I can ask tommrow but I'm impatient. Thankyou in advance xxx

I'm NOT the person to ask. Went on today hoping to get a bit of a tan before my holiday on Monday so I avoid burning when I'm away and I only bloody burnt on the bed. The stupid person working there said I'd be fine with 8 minutes and I am bright red. Urgh.

Ask the person working there and then ASK SOMEONE ELSE. Get a second opinion. They SHOULD know what to do
awww thats not good! You'd think they'd know what they're talkng about wouldnt you!! The redness should fade by monday though and fingers crossed you'll be left looking brown!

I hope so because I go away on Monday!!! I've plastered myself in aloe vera and taken a freezing cold shower. Will continue to do that every day so hopefully it will go down quickly.
ooh keep your aloe vera in the fridge it feels SO nice when you put it on, I do it with aftersun on hol =D Where are you going??

Greece  That's why I thought I'd try build up a bit of a tan - hot sun and all, I was worried about burning. Shouldn't have bothered!

How about you, where are you off to? I think I remember seeing Malia in your sig...?

Did you get your money back at all?
yep thats right, I figured it best to get a base tan because last time I went abroad the sun brought me out in the WORST spots and I was all peely. I've tried to be out as much as possible in the sun in factor 10 and then on the sunbed but I don't seem to have tanned at all! It's so frustrating, thats why I want to try the accelorator.

Have a great holiday! I'm looking forward to meeting some sexy greeks =p Just make sure you reapply suncream regularly, yada yada yada, and you'll be alright =)

Everything can be bad in excess!! You just have to use them sensibly

Please do not tell me you actually believe there is such a thing as sensible sun bed use - I won't even begin to describe my experiences in placement in a dermatology clinic for 'tanorexics'... Needless to say watching a 15 year old being told see has Malignant melanoma and is going to loose a big chunk out of her back isn't pleasant - the poor sod had never even been abroad...

Why don't you just get a spray tan instead?
I would argue, but this wasn't what this thread was about. I should have put a 'no preaching' thing in there but I forgot!

I just want advice from people who use/ or have used a sunbed. I know the risks, but just like people know the risks of drinking alcohol, eating fatty food etc, I've decided I'd rather go on the sunbed for a week then burn and have my holiday ruined

Spray tans won't help the spots or the peeling, a base tan increases the spf of your skin to 2-5 so obv suncream needs to be used same as always but it will provide some resistance

I have a right to voice my opinion, especially if a more naive member decides that they must be OK because X, Y and Z use them and they seem sensible...

Ok naive members, before going on a sunbed, make sure you research it thoroughly before deciding whether you want to go on or not, don't go on just because I do...

now can this thread stay on topic
