Girls....in holidays, how often do you chat to bf

Hi people.

Basically, for lots of little reasons I'm considering leaving the bf. Just out of curiosity because this is one of the reasons...

when you're on say, uni or school holidays, does he text you/ring you every day, especially if say neither of you were online to chat that day.

Basically, I want to know if it's normal to not have any contact for a whole day for no reason at all. Or do you think that if he cared that much, he would at least text or something. (And don't say well are you texting him or whatever cos it takes two to tango because I'm waiting for him to make an effort now)

Thanks, i need your opinions please!

He claims we're close but the way things are going I'm not sure. I did not expect it to be normal to be truthful. We do meet up every so often, but it's the time in between with occasional days with no contact that worries me now. If he cared that much as he claims then surely he'd be on the phone all the time. Great.

My boyfriend and I text each other, talk on msn and/or phone each other every day reguardless of whether we've seen each other that day or not.

I try to see my girlfriend every day of the holidays if thats any help. This is unless of course I've got other plans which mean I can;t fit her in, which generally i don't.

depends on the person i think.

when i was on holiday, i phoned my boyfriend, or he phoned me every night.. it was just because he had been to sweden the week before and our holidays over lapped. when i went to italy last year, i had to make use of the internet cafe round the corner. it's only because we have never spent 2 weeks apart though.. so..
anyway uhm.. i don't like it when my boyfriend doesn't get in touch during the day, but usually he does. he generally texts me at stupid times in the morning, like 2am. usually if i don't hear from him, i phone him..

i wouldn't say a day was particularly worrying though..
We speak virtually every evening on the phone, usually for at least an hour, and text sometimes as well (though not every day). With his home phone it is free to call other landlines in the evening, so it's not expensive!

Personally, I'd find that suffocating. When I was in halls at uni, we'd speak on an MSN voice conversation every night, but we don't now we're at home. And we don't text throughout the day or have little phone calls either! I certainly don't always know where he is - at the moment, I know he's in South Carolina travelling somewhere but that's it!

Perhaps it's related to relationship length? We've been together for about four and a half years so I don't feel the need to know what he's doing all the time any more
i've been with my bf 9 months met him at uni and now are spending the holiday apart will meet up for a few days once in the middle but apart from that we text during the day sometime but mostly have a text chat everynight. It been 2 weeks since i saw him i have only called him once and we dont chat online.

This may seem like very little contact but i am very happy with the way things are, so i guess it just depends on the person as someone else said

surely you must be Australian?

It's the only way I can explain the constant attempts at making things that aren't questions sound like questions?

Maybe he's thinking of dumping you because you don't text HIM enough? Tell him, and you'll get to the bottom of it.

Hmm...I guess it depends on the relationship though...Me and my boyfriend often go for days without talking on the phone with perhaps only a few texts if any in that time. I guess it varies dependent on how much contact each person needs, it's not that me and my bf aren't close, we're just more independent perhaps and it gives us more to talk about when we do phone each other or see each other. Having said that, it is him who needs the more space, but I reckon as long as the amount of time you talk works for you, then it shouldn't be an issue. With relationships, I don't believe you can really compare statistics to other couples as each is very different with varying strengths and weeknesses.
Good luck with your boyfriend anyway =] Hope everything works out ok for you.

It's been said already but I'll say it again, i depends on the relationship. During the holidays me and my boyfriend text eachother everyday and see eachother most days, but now that he's away for 2 weeks I send him about 5/6 texts a day and I jmight get 2 in return one, because of the cost and two he's having too much fun to sit around texting me all day. He rang me tonight and will probably ring me every other day. At the moment though it's killing me because we've never spent more than a few days apart :frown: 2 days down 12 to go  :p:

It depends on the relationship and it depends on the person. Some people don't feel the need to be in constant contact, he may be one of them. I don't always speak to my boyfriend every day and although the first holiday we were apart I was panicking if I hadn't heard from him in a day or two thinking "OMG he doesn't love me any more help help help" I just realised that's the way things work and I'm quite happy most of the time if there are a few days' silence. It doesn't mean he doesn't care; some men just aren't that into phone (or any!) communication. The only answer is to talk to him.

As said, it depends.

I cant be arsed to text 24/7. I do not need to text someone to prove why im with them (relationship wise). No, not constant contact.

I wouldn't be too worried. I try and speak to my girlfriend in some form, either on MSN or on the phone everyday. We ring each other about 2/3 times a week and I find that sufficent and then I see her twice a week. It doesn't mean that you shouldn't be together though just because you didn't speak to each other. Next time you speak to him, just mention you'd like to speak to him everyday, albeit brief.

Why don't you drop your BF an email if he isn't online?

As people have already stated... depends on the person!

Chris
My boyf doesn't usually call me but he texts me everyday at least once and we often talk online.

Well, as everyone has said, i recon that it depends on the relationship. Me n my b/f are really close and so we pretty much know exactly what each other is doing all of the time. Thats the kind of people we are though even if it does cause us to biccer sometimes.

I have a freind though who prefers a little more space in the relationship. Although, she recently split up with her b/f because she felt that the 'space' was making them more like friends and it wasnt a relationship any more.

If you would like to have a tighter relationship, you will seriously need to be the one who initially puts the effort in and if he really likes you too, he will want to contact you more to because you'll have become closer.

Would you be able to let me know how it goes, im intregued (if thts how you spell it)!
