Unless anyone anticipates voting for the upcoming B.o.B effort, it's about time to reflect on the best music of 2013. Obviously it's impossible to make a poll covering all the options, so I've used Metacritic's compilation of critics' top tens, and NME's reader poll to get a general spread of popular albums. If your favourite isn't on the list, post it.

For me it's Darkside's Psychic, closely followed by Vampire Weekend's Modern Vampires of the City, John Hopkins' Immunity, and The Haxan Cloak's Excavation.

Are we judging personal preference or saying "this album was an amazing rock/pop/whatever album" even if we may not like that genre.

I think that Random Access Memories by Daft Punk, ...Like Clockwork by QOTSA, and Holy Fire by Foals are all contenders.

I love AM but the best song on it is a John Cooper-Clarke poem-turned-song. The album I've listened most to this year has been "Nothing Was The Same" By Drake....His best work so far.

Danny Brown - Old

Although hip hop doesn't get the respect to come into this conversation.

I preferred XXX.

Do you mean about I haven't included hip hop in the poll? I picked the albums, based on the articles I linked, that I thought people would vote for. I'd have put the new Ghostface and Pusha T up there if I'd thought they'd get any votes.

Bonobo - The North Borders was an incredible release.

Mount Kimbie - Cold Spring Fault Less Youth was a close second.

I voted for Like Clockwork, but I really liked Big TV by White Lies as well.

Not you. But in general.

I think Old was more complete and sounded like a project rather than a group of songs. But I love xxx too.

Listening to Bruiser Brigade as we speak haha
