*****politics help asap****

I really need some political help right about now....

I just dont understand the question below:

Can anyone help give me some points or give me some useful books, links, journals etc please

In what ways did the New Right challenge the Post-War welfare state?

The New Right/ Thatcherism is based on the idea of a small state, e.g. low government spending and interference which goes against the idea of state involved welfare. You should also mention the economic liberalism of the new right, as this again means lower government intervention in economic/financial matters - this contradicts the redistribution of wealth used to provide welfare. You could also mention individualism (everyone should fend for themselves) and how this contrasted with the more socialist ideology of the welfare state. Finally, you could mention something about social conservatism and how the new right might oppose welfare given out to non-nuclear families etc - but this last point's a bit ropy :/ Good luck
