What does it mean if you have protein in your urine? And does this link with selective reabsorption in any way? Any help would be appreciated!

It could mean something is wrong with the basement membrane during the ultrafiltration process. As proteins are generally much bigger molecules than stuff like urea or glucose so they should ideally be filtered and not be passed into the tubules. But if there is a damage in the membrane, it could result in the smaller proteins escaping. And they do not (as far as I'm aware) affect the water potential.

However I haven't done this in almost 7 months so better off waiting for more responses.

Proteinuria is a sign of glomerular disease specifically what would be classed as the nephrotic syndromes. High levels of protein are also seen in diabetic patients as well; again due to glomerular changes and basement membrane changes.

Glycosuria is only really seen in diabetes and is due to hyperglycaemia and the amount of glucose being filtered overwhelming the reabsorption capabilities of the proximal tubule.
