I have heard so too...And I really hope that it has got better...But do you know whether there are any alternatives? I was told that one has no option but to make do with the one service provider, Keycom, I think...
is the base broadband deal included in the rent?

or do you have to pay extra?
or do you only pay to upgrade to a faster connection?

You get the basic 256mb free but you can pay to upgrade. When i went to Dinwiddy, the internet was working, no sweat.

Brilliant... I would hate to have an assignment due the next day and needing the internet to do it, but having no access. Apparantely, SOAS have just implemented wireless on campus. Not sure if it's fully functional though... it's supposed to be by now according to their website.

I'm dreading the 256kb/s - my home connection's 1MB and at times I don't think that's enough.

They probably give students extremely limited bandwidth as well, I would imagine:rolleyes:
ah but think back to ye olde dial up and it doesn't seem so bad!

In that case you'll know what I'm on about - in all honestly 512kb/s is probably enough for general internet use, but 256kb/s?!?

24hr library is only during exam time.

The computer rooms are open during normal building opening hours (9am-9pm weekdays, 9am-5pm Saturdays).

Dinwiddy internet can be unreliable, but the intercollegiate internet is good from what I know.

That's what I heard, which isn't too good as I'm going to Dinwiddy... have they honestly not sorted out the problem yet? I only came across minutes of some meeting the union had with management at which they highlighted the issue as far back as 2004, but I haven't seen any indication of improvement. I certainly hope its better than it was 2 years ago.
