When the lecturer asks whether there are any general questions from the floor, ask only general questions and save the non-general questions for the information stand. Here is a guide to what constitutes a general question:

    General questions:
: Do NOT start with the proper noun "I"
: Do NOT contain the word "baccalaureate"
: Do NOT mention a specific subject unless the talk is subject-specific
: Do NOT ask what is clearly stated in the prospectus.

Thank you for reading this plea.

he has a good point though. it REALLY is so irritating when the whole lecture hall has to listen to one silly person who either hasn't bothered listening properly or wants it to be personalised for them. just save it!

At one rather shabby uni I visited, all the questions were along the lines of:

What's the ratio of girls to boys?
How much does a pint cost in the SU?
What are the clubs in town like?

    GRR.

agree to an extent, but choosing a uni is important and you need to know to make the right choice.
