Previous degree- now NHS degree

Hi! So i graduated in 2006 with a BA hons Sociology (took 3 years).... Im looking at applying to do another degree in child nursing

I understand that I will get a NHS bursary and free tuition fees.... but will i be entitled to the Reduced Rate Maintenance Loan for the duration of the course (3 years)???

Ive heard no if my previouls degree is equivalent to the new degree..... but would a BA Hons in Sociology but considered as equivalent to a nursing degree (BSc Hons with reg nurse status)????

Hi Fazzer,

when applying for finance for a degree which is NHS funded you are not assessed based on previous study as these courses are exempt from the previous study calculation.

You would therefore be entitled to your NHS support and the reduced rate loan from SFE.
