Hi, I'm applying for Veterinary Medicine in September 2014 and want to gain some experience in lambing this Spring but have been unsuccessful so far in my search for a placement on Saturdays during the lambing season as my studies won't allow for time off college during the week. I was wondering if anyone knows where I could get lambing work experience on a farm in Staffordshire in the Stoke-On-Trent area during this time as i won't have another opportunity to complete lambing work experience before my uni application if I can't find a placement for 2014. Any Information or advice would be much appreciated Thanks

Is there no possibility of you staying somewhere further away and living on site for a week or two? The National Sheep Association has published a list of farms across the UK that looking for an extra pair of hands to assist at lambing time. To access it, all you need to do is join their mailing list. Many of the placements say in the description whether or not they are able to provide accommodation. Sadly I doubt that any would be willing to do Saturdays only, so it would probably have to be during school holidays. Unfortunately Easter happens to fall quite late next year and most of the farms on the list want you to be there in March, which is inconveniently between half term and Easter break. The list has been out for a while, so I don't know if many Feb/April slots will be left, but the list is updates every few weeks so it's well worth a try.

Good luck!
Hey, thanks for the advice I've had a look at the lambing list but alot of the farms are abit too far away for me, although I will be taking a gap year between September 2014 -2015 after i have applied so i could probably look at the lambing list next year when ill have the time and no college work to be thinking about. However i may have found somewhere i can do lambing, a friend of a friends farms close by but i need to see if i can sort that out Hopefully I'll be able to do some saturdays and also the easter holidays if i can
This year, so my lambing counts as future experience :-/
I was going to apply this year but I haven't really done enough work experience so I'm taking a gap year and applying next year so I have more time Where have you applied?
Hi, Have you managed to find a lambing placement in Stoke-on-Trent area? I’m struggling to find anything and I can’t really leave my pets for two weeks. I don’t have anyone to take care of them apart from paid services…
