I echo what The Bear said in that I'm kind of surprised its under £20m, I reckon its even £15m but rises to £17m when we win trophies.

I dont want Alves because i think we need a striker proven at top level, i doubt Saha would go to spurs seeing as they have Mido and Defoe sitting there doing nothing unless some of them leave, havnt really seen anything of this Anderson so couldnt say, id like to see Richards stay 1 more season at city so we can see more of him, and id rather some1 else than Huntelaar:p: unless hes been learning from Ruud

Im not all that familiar with many of the names, I know their stats etc but that doesnt mean much. I dont want Micah Richards, especially for £15m. I dont think we need a right back as Brown is an excellent defender.

As for Hargreaves, I think its a great price seeing as though we had £20m turned down in January I should be seeing him on Friday for England B

Pff, for £15m you can keep Micah Richards. We have Phil Bardsley for free, and he may not be as good, but he's better value for money.

Klaas Huntelaar at £12m is interesting. But would we be paying too much for what is essentially a gamble?

Dutch players usually do well in England, so I think its less of a gamble than Torres (who scores less than Klaas anyway).

To tell the truth £12m doesnt even seem like alot of money for players these days, if it was 3 years ago I would have said "dame thats a lot" but since the blue chavs came i always expect fees of £15m+ for any good player.

Man Utd consider bid for Gordon

Manchester United are considering an £8m summer transfer bid for Hearts and Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon, BBC Sport understands.
And Aston Villa could be pondering a move, with boss Martin O'Neill watching from the stands during Sunday's last SPL game of the season at Kilmarnock.

The 24-year-old has been Hearts captain since the controversial departure of Steven Pressley to Celtic in December.

Hearts assistant Stephen Frail on Friday valued the goalkeeper at £10m.

English Premiership sides failed to match Hearts' asking price in January, while Gordon rejected a move to Spartak Moscow the following month.

The goalkeeper, capped 14 times for Scotland, has previously been linked with both Arsenal and Fulham.

That to me would be rediculous. We have Ed; who has at least another season, Foster who has had a superb season and Kuszczak. Why do we need another goalkeeper

1. Torres should come, he's quality (but dives, though Fergie will reform him)

2. No, not yey, nay. 17mill is way too much for Hargreaves. At least someone can take the free kicks other than Ronaldo.

3. I hope not, United don't need another striker made of glass, and his wages are astronomical.

4. Wonderfully, 9 goals since January, as an SS that's very good.

If Hargreaves comes who does he displace? He is a defensive midfielder so does that mean he competes with Carrick? I can't see him replacing Scholes just yet and Scholes is attacking. I also cannot see him replacing Ronaldo and Giggas (just yet).

So it won't be a straight in will it?

Gary Vida Rio Evra

Scholes Hargreaves Carrick

Giggs Rooney Ronaldo

Something like this maybe? But I'm not happy with Rooney playing the only one up front.

Most likely he'll push Carrick to the bench next season, which will be a shame. But Carrick is going to be Scholes' spiritual successor when he retires, and playing with two players of that nature has been fun this season - and it was fine for the Premiership - but it wasn't Champion's League winning form; just see how Gatusso tore both Carrick and Scholes apart in the Milan 2nd leg! They just couldn't get anything going because the bugger was everywhere!!! We needed a true defensive midfielder in that game!

EDIT: AYE, that could indeed happen, but I think Fergie will be just as unhappy with Roo playing up front on his own as we will be. More likely the above will happen; we'll sell Louis 'I've Chipped My Nail Polish Again' Saha, and get a striker of Van Nistelrooy stature, so Rooney can play in the hole behind the striker - which is where he's best, in my honest opinion.

Hargreaves will play a similar role to what Keano did, I reckon; and Scholes is currently the better player than Carrick, and thus poor Mike will be displaced next year. Still, it gives him that extra incentive to get better - maybe improve his tackling - and hopefully once Scholesey does go, he'll be more than worthy to take his place!

I imagine Carrick will move into Scholes' role once he retires as Carrick is more offensive minded and is a good passer with both feet, something he can't fully take advantage of now as he has to be more defensive, and Hargreaves will be the defensive cover, a la the Scholes-Keane combo of a few years ago.

EDIT:

Interesting post about united's formation.
