Where do you measure your waist?

Waist measurement came into some conversation I've been having- I thought it was by your navel but apparently it's where you're the thinnest, in which case I'd have a very high waist which doesn't seem normal.

Just wondering, which is it?

Duh, jeans go round your hips.

My waist is very high too so don't worry about that.

jus above your ilex crest (i think thats what its called...) and since this is near enough the top of your hip, i guess the length of your leg plays a role.....ergo some peoples waists might seem higher....
