Avoiding the question

Someone asked the guy I like whether he fancies me and he said back 'I'm not answering that question.' Whats that supposed to mean? x

he probably thought it was an immature and invasive question which he prefers not answering; id say the same to be honest..

Tell me, are you the same person who constantly comes on here asking (in one sentence followed by a 'x') about this guy she fancies saying something completely innocuous and meaningless to someone else because she's assumed it means the guy's mad for her?

Go - and - ask - him.

Personally I would've told the person to **** off because it's none of their business, but it sounds to me like this guy is simply more polite than me, and I wouldn't take that as any indication that he likes you, just that he'd rather not discuss his private life with that particular "someone".

I'd say its more likely to lean towards 'yes I do fancy her' but he didn't want to admit it to whoever asked. If he didn't wouldn't he be more likely to say no? Unless he thought he'd get stick for it...

That's quite a one-sided view. I refuse to tell anyone (except my good friends) who I fancy, and because I'm (excuse temporary Welsh accent) the only gay in the school... as in the only one that's come out... absolutely everyone is interested in who I fancy. I get the odd 11-year-old coming up to me asking if I fancy him and it's a 50-50 chance whether I say yes (to scare him) or no (to get him to go away). Anyone who might be vaguely serious I refuse to answer. It causes misunderstandings but... that's their problem for taking "none of your business" to mean "yes, of course I fancy you, I just don't want to tell you".

I'd take it to mean, "I'm not answering that, its a stupid question"... he may be private, but I'd take it to mean no tbh, if he liked you, he'd have said, Oh i dont know", or, "maybe".
