Hi! I am planning on taking AS Maths, FM and AFM over 3 Years AFM to (AS Only). I want to be an engineer so I would like to do all of the mechanics modules. Do you have any tips for mechanics? Any general textbooks I am planning on doing Edexcel or AQA.

I self taught M1-5, using the edexcel textbooks only, didn't have a problem. I'd suggest PERFECTING, ever module before moving to the next, because skills from the lower end modules become basic knowledge in the higher modules, of which you need to be able to do subconsciously. Also, if you do physics, which it'd be silly if you didn't, with your career path, work hard in physics, because alot of the modules in physics appear in mechanics. From M1 -5, e.g Hookes law, Circular Motion, Simple Harmonic Motion and so on, just a few examples.

I self-taught M4/5 and just looked at the syllabus and then Googled the title of each chapter to find notes. I didn't do physics, so a lot of it was new to me. If I remember correctly, M5 requires FP3.. Or at least an understanding of how to solve 2nd order differential equations.

Good luck!
