Not stupid. Just not realistic.

Communism is a lovely idea - it just doesn't work.

No.

Like it or not, money is by FAR and away the biggest incentive to study hard and get a good job... if every is paid the same regardless of occupation... why would someone bother practising law? Or become a highly skilled Engineer?

I read an analogy the other day that summed it up (IMO):
Imagine you worked really, really hard at school. Some people messed about and never got any work done. Teachers and carers congratulated you on working hard and encouraged you to keep at it - but you're all getting a C regardless.

Would you bother to keep on studying?

Also, i'm sure there are far-deeper rooted problems than this - but this is one that springs to mind.

Not stupid, just people searching for equality. Capitalism doesn't work either tbh, but communism just wouldn't work full stop.

Communism as an ideology is brilliant.

Everyone is equal with equal opportunity.

But in practice it just wouldn't work, due to natural human traits like greed and self actualisation.

Plus, say communism was in place, there'd be no incentive to innovate and think of new ideas. Put it this way, if communism ruled, there'd be no iPhones, smartTVs etc. If that's a good thing I dunno.

This is just off the top of my head

No communists are not stupid.

I like your username
I myself dislike brown bread.
No more stupid than anyone else who believes in an ideology. Communism has been written off by many because of its perceived failure. Communism has never properly been implemented and even then its failure came with significant assistance. Most take the view that despite that we've seen enough, but communists would say that without properly implementation and the lack of outside hostile actions that its not a failed ideology.

I'd imagine if we continue to face a fall in living standards, wage freezes, and an increasing wealth divide more socialist movements will start to gain popularity, but I doubt communism will be given another go anytime soon.

are you sick? you think communism is a lovely idea?

They're just idealistic. In a perfect world, everyone would share and help one another and be happy. In practice, people are always going to look out for themselves, so communism will always fail.

From your brevity of your question and wording, I am guessing you don't understand the premise of Marxism. It's a failed idea that stemmed from good intentions for an equitable humanity.

You must be a capitalist?

Do you understand Marxist ideology? I agree with the other person, it was a lovely idea that everybody could be equal economically; socialism is only a few steps away from Marxism. Like the other person said, it's was a nice idea in the abstract but impossible to implement practically because of the complexity of humanity.

Communists are too brutally honest about the need to limit personal freedoms to make any political system work. Capitalism tends to me much more insidious and subtle in their suppression of liberty and of political dissent.

no its disgustingly flawed and infringes of basic human rights
since everyone on tsr thinks that they're going to grow up to be a CEO £10k a day-ing, womanising, triple gold medal winning Adonis, the concept of a communism isn't received well here. However, you're all ****ing uneducated, and spent a little too long listening to the simplified/ill-informed nonsense your gcse history teacher spouted on the subject.

Tldr shut up you morons

All revolutions have flaws, 'Liberte, egality, fraternite', justifying death for the common good in 1789. I'm agreed on the flaws of communism as it is implemented but socialism theoretically aspires to a similar ideal of achieving a levelling out of unequal advantages in society. Marxist theory has a kind and humane heart.
Hardcore capitalism without healthcare subsidies is an insidious way of letting poor people die slowly with their terminal cancers whilst their teeth fall out from not having dental treatment.

The way I see it is, for communism to work you would need to change people's way of thinking. i.e. to look for another award for their work- other than money. That would be virtually impossible in today's society but don't know if it would be in the future.

We are just stupid. Because instead of wanting to become "the man" ,earn millions a yea on wall street for practically doing nothing and exploit the poor, we strive to create a more equal society.

Ever heard about the myth of meritocracy? The idea that you will fail anyways if you are not bourgeoisie but they will fool you into believing that you are being rewarded for your efforts. Ever heard of all those working class children who are rejected from Oxford merely for not being posh enough? I don't say to take what i say for granted but you shouldnt take whatever they tell you for granted. You should always question what you are being thought.
