So on Christmas day all intelligent discussion should just stop should it? I am curious as to what non Westerners, (particularly non Western males) think of Western culture and I fail to see what is wrong with asking them.

Maybe slightly but I don't see it as a bad thing at all, there is no need for all men to be hyper-masculine.

Interesting. However, one non Western male has already commented that they view Western males as emasculated so that is interesting? Also it might be semantic but emasculated is the complete removal of masculine identity I believe.

Not really, but I suppose it depends on definitions and what people view as social emasculation (I assume you didn't mean physical emasculation). I don't find it necessary to prop my masculinity up by being overbearing, artificially dominant, sexist, aggressive and controlling, but those are key characteristics of what some people consider 'masculine' behaviour, at least the traditional type.

I don't think we're necessarily emasculated, we're just not horrible to women and don't need to go hunting for our food anymore.

I'd definitely say no if the definition is "complete removal of masculine identity" I'd say western men do still act and value many masculine qualities.

I think there is perhaps a fear among some that masculine identity has been eroded within the West.

We clearly still have gender roles we have to adhere to. Unfortunately.

To some extent I see your point however, others may feel differently. I think that masculinity unlike femininity had become marginalised within the West.

No I did mean social emasculation. I am curious as to how non Western males view Western culture as they might be able to provide an insight.

Again I fail to see why Christmas should not involve intelligent discussion? Do you not care what non Westerners views of Western culture are? One non Western male on this thread has already told me he believes Western males might be in danger of being emasculated so I want to investigate further.

Yes and this is something i have said for years .
Gender roles are a myth and real men are in rapid decline .
Luckily people from my culture are also continuing to reject and denounce western values at every opportunity

What do you class as "non Western" ? by that, do you mean someone who:

  • Doesnt have a Western way of thinking?
  • Isn't White?
  • Isn't Christian/Atheist?
  • Has recent ancestry outside of the UK?

It'd be nice if you could expand

Because I'd consider myself pretty Western
