you get given estimated grades...
in 2003 how more than 1,000 pupils' exam papers from all three examination boards had been lost that summer. Those students had to be given estimated grades
from the telegraph website...
Hmmm... I'm not sure whether to believe it or not... but still, slightly worried, I did 8 papers on OCR!

If your script is lost and you get an estimated grade, do you get told about it? Or are people with estimated grades unaware of it?

From the telegraph:

"He explained that the assessment took into account the student's predicted grades and previous work. Teenagers who end up receiving such "guessed" grades can tell by looking at the results sheet. Ordinarily, students will get both a numerical mark and an alphabetical grade, but for these pupils only the latter will appear."

According to that second article it says your result will be just a grade with no numerical value ifthey have given the estimated grade.
(I feel sick - ALL my papers were with OCR)
Unaware i expect.

Incompetent ba****ds.
the whole exam board sytem will end in disastor. It just gets worst, some of the things i've been told by examiners are enough to put me off exams. I wouldn't be suprised if there was another major crisis this year..
goddamit if you only get an estimated grade then at some point your going to have to redo the exam aint you ? or not? because its quite annoying! i really dont wanna sit through another boring computing exam :frown:
No, you dont get an esitamated grade, they basically give you your estimated grade if teachers can show work at that level. You wouldnt have to resit.

All of mine were OCR. I hope they have lost my English scripts....

Thats just very Irresponsible of OCR

I dont see how OCR is being blamed, it is clearly parcel force who have messed up on so many occasions. So in a way the title of this thread is slightly misleading....anyway.....
Reply 18
Well OCR as an exam board should have monitored progress and ensured that Parcelforce make deliveries (accurately) but yes (Parcel force) is the primary party to blame not OCR.

The blame has to fall on OCR ultimately. It is their responsability to set and mark the papers and then give us results at the end. This process may not now happen as smoothly for some as it should due to errors made by Parcel Force. OCR should have put measures in place to stop this from happening, and it is their fault at the end of the day. It is OCRs job to deal with our examinations, not Parcel Force.
