Hi all,

I'm an apprentice at the moment at a contract Electronics manufacturer and I'm currently studying an HNC in Electrical/Electronics Engineering which I finish in 2015 (by which time I'll have had 4 years experience).

After that though, I've got no idea what to do. I know I want a degree and I do think that I could get fully funded by my employer for a part time degree but I'm not sure if I want a degree in Electronics Engineering or Computer Engineering (most local courses seem to be Computer Systems Engineering).

Has anyone stepped from an HNC in one subject and into a degree course of another? Or is going from HNC to HND a better route before getting a degree?

I've had loads of confusion from past tutors thinking that a HND is essentially a full time HNC (meaning they're the same qualification) though I think this is wrong! So if someone could clear me up on that it would be great, thanks!

HND is higher level then HNC. HND takes 2 years full time and is level 5 qualification. While HNC takes 1 year full time and is a level 4 qualification. If i remember you can go straight into the second/third year of a degree (BEng/MEng) if you get distinctions in the HND, while you can go into the first/second year of a degree if you get distinctions in the HNC.
