Anti Tattoo parents

so i know i want a tattoo. only a very small one, in a discreet place. - wanted the same desgin put on me for about 3 years now.

However, my parents are very, very anti tattoos. I start uni in september - do i get it done then and not tell my parents? or do i talk it through with them first?

Do it if you like, but you might regret it. I'm sure your parents are just looking out for your best interests.

get it done and don't tell them, even if they do find out, what are they gonna do? ground you? try to scrub it off? i assume your over 18, your an adult and in charge of your own life!

YEAH! GO for the tramp stamp! It'll make u look sexy!
My freind is considering getting a 5 year tatto. My mum seems to not be very aware of the social implication of these kind of things, my brother siad he wnated his eyebrow pirced, my mum said no because it can get infected but is fine with ear pirceings.

I tihnk she would say no to a tatoo only because she would be worried aobut the needle being dirty rather then the fact i have a tatoo, so why not ask your parents why they dont want you to have one.

How did she NOT notice your lip piercing?!!!

To the OP: depends if you want to keep a certain level of trust between yourself & your parents.

you see my mum doesnt pay that much attention to me.
i dunno shes silly.
ive had my tongue peirced for like 3 years now and she still hasnt noticed that...or she either has and chose not to say anything.
hmm thats very unlikely since my mum loves to argue with me

My parents were very anti tattoo theywere very prone to believeing the stereotype of tattoed men (big, rough, tough and bad) then they met my boyfriend who has two tattoos and is absolutely lovely. i'd get it done at uni, that's what one of my mates did and his parents had to accept it cos it as already done and couldn't be undone, if you are really worried about your parents get a temp one that only last for about 3 years and by then their attitude may have changed a little having got used to your temp so you can get a real one. My mum is also anti-piercings and she knows i wanna get my belly button pierced abd although she has told me all the horror stories she knows she has not put me off and just says do it if you want but don't come crying to me when it goes all wrong. My boyfriends mum doesn't even know about one of them somehow he has managed to hide it from her.
Im gonna get a tatoo on my arm (forearm, the word 'libertine'... i know lol like Pete  ) next term, when im at uni. Dont think i'll tell my parents. Ill roll my sleaves up to tuck into xmas dinner and get thrown out the house :p: haha that wont happen. They'll be surprised but i dont think they'll mind that much

I dont know what your relationship with your parents is like but you'll be an adult technically and not living with them anymore (they cant use the "...not whilst youre living under my roof" line  ) Shouldnt be that much of a problem as long as you dont react to them getting angry and fly off the handle yourself
heh my parents dont like tattoos but they cant stop me so instead they just say "well if you wanna be that stupid"
if u want a tattoo then get one, end of lol

i have 2 tattoos, my mom likes them lol, i lived at my nans for abit last year tho and i hid them from her so she never found out cus she dont like tattoos, altho looking back i shudnt have done as i was 19 what the hell cud she have dun? apart from chuck me out lol its up to you really whether u tell ur parents or not, but u shud deffo get one if you want one, unless ur like 13 im sure ur not lol

i wouldn't advise anyone getting a tattoo on their forearm, upper arms and legs if you wear trousers are fine but on the forearm prevents you from wearing t-shirts and if you wanna get a decent job you have to be able to cover them up i have a friend who has tattoo on her wrist and she wants to be a teacher and so many people have told her how difficult she is gonna find it with that, but she tends to cover it with wrist bands or bracelets for interveiws. My boyfriend wouldnlt dream of getting one his forearm cos he wants to teach his way through his Masters and PHd.
You can say equality till your blue in the face and that it shoudn't be a deciding factor but it is, just like having more that two ear piecings or piecrcings in othe places like eyebrow, nose or lips although the advantage of piercings is you can take them out.
tattoos are fine as long as you can cover them up.

upper arm, thigh etc.
My parents are anti tatoo , but they've done an excellent job of making me and my siblings anti tatoo, even more so than themselves, so the problem doesnt arise. if you're 18 go for it , i'd wouldn't but its your choice.

everyone i tell says that  And your probably right but im dead set on getting it on my forearm (it'll be covered when im wearing long sleaves and its just simple, small letters not swirly dragons and **** like that.) I think part of the reason i want it there is the fact everyone will see it. (i mean whats the point even doing it if no one will ever see it)

i dunno, someone will probably talk me out of it before i get round to doing it anyway. I guess i will have to grow up some day, sadly. And i might regret it then
