30 Park Place just turned unsuccessful on gateway. Which is great seeing as I am going to their summer party tonight. That won't be awkward... :frown:

Did you get an email from gateway or did it just change? Thanks!

If I remember rightly from last year, 187 sent out first rounds around the 18th June. Should hear something soon.

I haven't heard anything from Garden Court North yet though!

Do remember that the Gateway deadline was extended twice last year, so it may not be the best indication.

Sorry to hear that. That really does suck.

I've said before that I wasn't really expecting anything this year, however, given that it was one of the only chambers I have any real connection with thought I had just a small chance of perhaps getting through the sift!

Oh well perhaps I can dazzle them with charm tonight and change their minds hahaha

Hi everyone

Thought I'd join in with an impressive 6 rejections out of 10!

Anyone get an interview who's still studying?

Has anyone had a pre-selection interview at St Philips? Would really appreciate some advice...

I have an interview at Ropewalk and am graduating (hopefully) in July, but I did a mini there. 4 rejections on Gateway thus far.

Good luck with the interview - hopefully pupillage will follow shortly : )

Temple Garden last year was friendly and informal. Mainly CV chat and motivation. There was also a simple ethics question, so (re-)reading code of conduct prior to interview won't harm.

Good luck!!

That's really helpful, thanks!

Hi KLFHOME,

When you say studying, do you mean your qualifying law degree or the BPTC? If it's the former, do not be alarmed, only two people in our entire BPTC year had secured pupillage before they began the course. Some had interviews during their undergraduate year, so you need to be doing things this summer to make your CV shine.

If it's the latter, you need to give urgent consideration to your application. A lot of people are getting interviews on my BPTC course.
So a set that I made it all the way (via two interviews and a mini) to reserve list with last year; a set who specifically told me that they did not discriminate against second time applicants; and a set whose feedback and advice have guided my efforts to work towards pupillage over the last 10 months... have just rejected me at sift.

This process cracks me up.

I had a similar experience.. I think one problem is that unless they are specifically looking out for an application, all applications are divyed up and there is just not really any consistency in how those reviewing them will assess them. it is very frustrating.

I had nearly an identical experience. Decent time at interview last year, dramatically improved cv this year (with interviews at sets I would deem 'better') yet rejection at paper round. Just goes to show how random this process can be- and how much luck plays a part.
