So this is going to sound like a very stupid question but I am completely clueless.
The assignment we've been given is about COPD which is a lung disorder.
I have to write about the concept of COPD

what exactly does concept mean in this context?

Concept is a general idea... So basically means give an overview (scientifically obviously) of COPD
