    1. Structural formula: (CH3)3CC(CH3)=CHCH3

    I've called it 3,4,4-trimethylpent-2-ene.

    2. Structural formula: C(CH3)3CBr=CHCl
    I've called it: 2-bromo-1-chloro-3,3,3-trimethylbut-1-ene

    Are these correct?

Do you mean (CH3)3CC(CH3)=CHCH3? Your name is right for that. In the second case, check again for how many methyl groups you have coming off it.

Yes, sorry, that's what I meant. I think I've found my error for the second one- is it: 2-bromo-1-chloro-3,3-dimethylbut-1-ene ?

Wouldn´t the first one be 3-methlypent-2-ene

I got 2-bromo-1-chloro-2,2-dimethlybut-1-ene for the second one

I've just had another thought on that one- wouldn't it be better to write it as 2,2,3-trimethyl-pent-3-ene since it produces the lowest numbers?

Thank you for the drawing.. it really helped but looking at it again why would it be 4 and 3 for the methyl surely it should be 2 and 3 looking for the smallest possible arrangement.

No, the alkene takes priority when numbering the chain ...
