My daughter has applied to study BA Fine Art at Falmouth from September 2014. I have heard from a student at one of her other choices, Oxford Brookes, that people who want to concentrate on traditional skills such as drawing and painting are not well-supported there.
I would be interested to hear from past or present Fine Art students as to whether she would be encouraged in drawing, painting and sculpture at Falmouth.

I'm afraid I don't know anything specific about Falmouth, but my son did Fine Art Painting at Edinburgh and from his degree show, it looked like they could go wherever their inclinations took them, whether traditional or modern. The atmosphere on the course was designed to encourage them to do their own thing, whatever that may be, rather than restrict them and I imagine similar courses will take the same approach.

Hi there,

You can find full details of the course content for Fine Art at Falmouth on our website here: http://www.falmouth.ac.uk/fineart
If you would like to get an inside view from students currently studying the course (and you use Facebook) you could join this group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/fineartfalmouth13.16/
You can also see images from some of our Fine Art students work here: http://www.pinterest.com/falmouthuni/bahons-fine-art/

Falmouth has produced Turner Prize nominees (painting and sculpture) a member of the Royal Academy (sculpture) and has had artists shortlisted for the Jerwood Drawing Prize.

We also have a BA(Hons) in Drawing if that was something she was specifically interested in.

Good luck to both of you!

Camilla
