I know so many people who are afraid to take up running/cycling because of "public gaze" i say dont worry ! noone will judge you and once your running just run you shouldnt care what other people think of your running/cycling

no,no,no.....i'm happy about 'public gaze' - i'm nowhere close to the extent that i have rolls of fat bobbling around (thank god)....it's just that i'd rather not be skipping where people can see me. I have an image to maintain, i'm one of a dying breed, strong heterosexuality....and none of this metrosexuality mallarky... :cool:

You can't lose fat from a particular area of your body, as simple as that. Targeting a particular area might make the process faster but that has to be SUPPLEMENTED with 30-40 mins of cardio everyday. Running/Cycling/Swimming - everything would do.

For the last week i've been doing about 45 minutes on the exercise bike, which I think is beginning to help. I just need to tone up really (sisters wedding very soon!).

You're right, targeting one single area is impossible without it affecting anywhere else.
