Moles

Hi, i'm doing a few questions for my chemistry mock and i'm not sure about this question. I'm not asking for an answer but instead a hint to get started?
Thanks

Sodium chloride salt is made in the following reaction

HCL + NaOH = NaCl + H2O

If 5 moles of hydrochloric acid are used, how many moles of salt are made?

Would it be 5 moles due to the ratio being 1:1 ?

It depends how many moles of NaOH are being used too. If there are 5 moles of NaOH then there will be 5 moles of the salt. Does the question say NaOH is in excess?

5 moles of HCl will produce 5 moles of NaCl provided there is no limiting reagent. So like you said, the ratio is 1:1, you just have to multiply the ratio by the number of moles and you'll have the answer.
