Maybe it represents their self confidence and even if people take hits at them they will not be shaken

Err.. maybe it's someone talking about their significant other, who is symbolized by bread, and is saying that they love him/her even if they have a few bad qualities because overall he/she is perfectly awesome?

very interesting analysis. The phrase does have an intended meaning, but my social pondering was more as to how someone would interpret an ambiguous statement.

1 person took it literally.
1 person mentioned self-confidence.
1 person didnt care about the meaning, but sought to judge those who would say it.
you mentioned a significant other.
