I'm sorry but after reading the article which states that, Mr Williams will be attending The University of Cambridge even though he got shoddy and down right awful A levels i.e ABC. He will be doing a course, well a 10 week one at Cambridge.:mad::mad::mad::eek::confused::confused::confused:. Now how in the hell did someone with those grades even get on a course at St Andrews in the first place?? That is a question that needs to be asked first.

This royal bias is very common where these folk go to the best schools in the land i.e Eton college in the case of Williams and yet still fail miserably to get the required grades:eek::confused::mad:. What is going on here folks.

Oliver Cromwell is of the greatest human beings to ever live and one of my hero's, as he basically brought democracy to this country. If he did not have the convictions he had we would be living under some type of absolute monarchy like we have in Saudi Arabia. So i praise the man, but I also feel he did not go deep enough in his rooting out of this vile royal family. He should have killed off every single person with any royal blood line ( including Charles the First son, Charles the Second) so there would have been no royal family NOW and no traces what so ever. So in my view he missed a trick there. He should have done what they did to the french royal family and wiped it out completely.

Why does ONE family have so much power and get to rule over us mere PLEBS?? Its disgusting and I for one want this royal family abolished and we should have a DIRECT DEMOCRACY. Where we can choose and FIRE are elected officials if we are not happy with their performance. That is why I think the American founders had that in mind as they all hated the European way of doing things and sought to build a country based on strong principles of DEMOCRACY and REPUBLICANISM.

ITS TIME FOR A REVOLUTION FOLKS!!!!!!!!!!!

You do realize that this country has been invaded and taken over so many times that I doubt there is a "true royal blood line".
To be honest the royal family is nothing more than a figure head in this country they essentially can do nothing. The power of Monarchy had been decreasing since the execution of Charles the first anyway ever since the decision for parliament to execute him it has decreased the point where Monarchy today is just a pretty face. They have no power.
When the queen signs on a bill it is a formality. She can't really say no.

Just because you get the rid of the Royal family these sort of things won't stop happening. Those with money and power would still be able to have a massive influence as in the good old US of A.
It isn't just royalty it is just elitism in general and it is a set paradigm which yes does indeed need to change.

You live in a democracy.

If you believe in a republic that's ok. We differ on that one. But I think if you do a bit if digging you'll find his ten week course isn't exactly the same as applying for any other Oxbridge undergraduate course. It's 140 weeks shorter for a start.

THANK YOU SIR
So hypothetically if we did a referendum today and the majority voted to keep the monarchy would you be satisfied democracy has spoken or would you be upset it didn't work the way you wanted?

Why? The Royal Family instantly distinguishes the inequality between people in a hierarchical society. It's an unfair and ridiculous idea which should be demolished with all aristocracy. The idea that people are better then one another due to their ancestors or the position they are born into is offensive and I believe they have no right to rule over the public (perhaps not with political power but financially and the use of propaganda).

For the Queen to talk about striving for equality with a £Million hat on is insulting.

I'll support your Revolution OP.

You definitely need to calm down. Apart from one boy going to Cambridge what else has happened to get you so riled up? The royal family actually benefits the uk as it gives it soft power which gives us more say in international politics. Let's face it, the uk doesn't really have much going for it anymore, were becoming a pretty insignificant country in terms of intnl politics

Socialist?
The royal family give a lot of money to charity but they do have a certain image. What would it say about Britain if the queen started wearing jumpers from m&s and a primark hat... Just because a person has money and wishes for nice things that doesn't mean they can't believe in equality

His A-levels are irrelevant as he already holds a degree, the real question is how did he get into St. Andrews in the first place? There are many postgraduate students who have mediocre or bad A-level results studying at Oxbridge because they performed very well in their degrees, and quite rightly so. However, I don't believe William got a great degree either. I agree with you about how the Royals get anything they want, however I would rather live my fulfilled common life where I have worked hard for what I have, and can actually do what I want with my life rather than be a puppet whose life is already planned out. I would rather die than be a Royal.

Stop! We've already had this thread. My first advice is using the search option or having a look through the forums and not posting the same thread as someone else.

I will post what I posted on that thread, and elaborate a bit, because it seems some people just don't get the message. First of all, he was admitted for a ten week, specialist course at Cambridge. His A-Levels are irrelevant, as he has a degree from St. Andrews. ABC is by no means "poor" at A-Level, and he sat his A-Levels in 2000, before the introduction of AS-Levels and back when actually those A-Levels were fine if you wanted to go to St. Andrews.

I won't address your comments about Republicanism vs. Royalty. I'm inclined towards a more Republican point of view but killing the royal family seems rather extreme.

Not to mention that Oliver Cromwell went to Cambridge and he didn't even have A-Levels

Well if they are an irrelevance why not get rid of them entirely and have an elected head of state? If they sign bills into law without having a choice then parliament is too powerful, vice versa if the monarch can block any and every bit of legislation they are too powerful (at least for a democratic society, the latter is essentially what a monarchy is). If the monarch is essentially a parliamentary rubber stamp who the public get no say in having I fail to see what position they should hold in governing our country.
