Exactly. You get pillows so you just need pillowcases for them, you get a quilt so you just need a quilt cover, etc. Well at Rosebery you do anyways as far as I know. Other stuff can just be bought in London.

According to what I've read from the website, you get pillows and quilts at Bankside House as well.

Ah in that case, I'd suggest getting here in the morning and heading straight for a big supermarket or somewhere that sells bed stuffs, I can't think of anywhere off the top of my head but there'll be plenty of places

Yup, Butler's Wharf had pillows (which, I'll admit were a bit gross), quilts, and what we call mattress pads in the States. Some people just never bought linens. Ew.

I went to BHS at Surrey Quays that first afternoon to buy sheets & towels, but brought my extra special Paddington duvet cover and favorite fleece blanket from home. You're going to want a blanket for the winter, just while sitting at your desk or reading! Argos is my favorite place for cheap housewares, M&S, Tesco and John Lewis are other places people went. But, save the room for stuff that's special and not available here. One roommate seriously brought his own rice cooker.

rice cookers are life savers
have you ever made rice without them?? misssion!

To be honest, I'm not sure I've ever made rice with one! He was Chinese (so perhaps a bit more particular about rice and eating more of it than me) and also brought a knife the size of a cleaver. It was scary. :-)
he kept the knife in the room? Oh my...

And how much of a strange fantasy would that be?!

A poor attempt to conceal your masochistic tendencies...

Hey..

well, for all northumberland house ppl...u can order an entire bedding set for $16.50 from the residence, which will get credited to our accounts once we get there. Apart from that, I'm also buying my own set of bedding, because I'm not sure of how much quality you could rlly get within $16.50.

I don't really have space constraints, as my dad travels to London every month. I've already sent a carton of woolens with him, the next time I plan to send my coats, and my bedding. I suggest all you other international students try and do something similar, as otherwise, you'll end up spending a whole lot of money in shops in London (which is way more expensive than India, which is where I live)..

bye!!

Well, he did tend to keep it in the kitchen, but the most frightening part was that he brought it with him from China. It musta been in his checked luggage, but STILL! :-)
