TBH I find lighteners can turn the hari orange  and so I prefer to use Veet (Immac). Or wax. Just get one for sensitive skin and follow the directions.

I'm Asian, so the hair on my face is dark and therefore slightly more noticeable. I don't really know what to do about it - I know there are hair lightening creams out there (like the Veet one) but I'm not sure if they work on proper dark hair. Does anyone know of any creams or something that can be used on the face for actual hair removal?

Move to France, they dig bearded ladies.

Sorry to disappoint you deluded boys but all woman naturally have hair on their upper lip.

Only lady boys!

I find Jolen (sensitive) is the only hair lightening cream not to irritate me or bleach my skin! (Watch out for that one if you're asian)

I'd be wary of waxing because the area could be red for a time afterwards (i know my legs are)

You can et into a right old mess if you start doin it yourself, particularly waxing. Unfortunately, this is probably the most effective method.

It'd be a good idea to visit a salon, they'll chare about £10. Better still, the facial area is small and so you sould seriously consider permanent hair removal. At a cost of approx £200, its not a bargain, but you'll never have to fret about the problem again. I can imagine it's a very distressing problem for you, so I'd recommend that you look into the permanent option.

Good luck x

wow i was about to open a thread about this until i saw this!

im a chinese girl and im soo self conscious about my little hairs on my upper lip...they're not tooo obvious but they are...especially the left side of the lip! its so wierd because im really not a hairy person at all! like some of my friends have to wax their arms because they're that hairy, and i have so little hair! but when its my upper lip...argh!

i don't want to wax it and i scared if i use hair whitening it'll turn my hair yellowy/orange like others i see who use it.

what other remedies are there?

I would not bother getting it perm removed aslong as its not a tash. If you a really worried hun then maybe go to a salon and they will do it properly for you.

Has anyone ever mentioned it? If not i would not fret to much about it.

Dont bother putting money for lightening the hairs on your face, leave that for arms. imo it would be better to remove them, either waxing or by threading. You could wax it yourself, but when you do it for the first time make sure you get someone else to do it like a professional just so you get the idea. Waxing continously minimises hair growth and also makes hairs finer.

Or just get yourself a pair of tweezers and there you go, a hair free tash

Reply 12

No one has ever mentioned it, but I'm quite self conscious about it anyway. I have been using tweezers, but it gets so tiresome.

Thank everyone for your advice!

Threading is the best option.

What? If you are getting charged £10 you are getting seriously ripped off! It should be about £4. Yes it will probably go red afterwards, so do it in the evening/late afternoon (depending on how long they stay open). Put some ice on it. It's not usually terrible, but you certainly wouldn't want to go out afterwards.

I think getting it professionally waxed is the best plan (I tried to do it at home once - went terribly wrong and had to tell people that I'd walked into some nettles!). Lightening cream is not great for the face, especially with an asian skin tone. I'm very pale, and it looks weird even on me. The hair removal creams are ok, but you risk burning your skin which looks worse than the hair. Plus I've never found one that is all that effective. Waxing gets it all, and it lasts much longer than anything else.

Use Louis Marcel which is a depilatory cream usually £2-3. Dissolves the hair in 5 mins.

Reply 16

Gonna say, just use depilatory cream - quick and easy and pain free.

I have the exact same problem as the op, but i have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and i get Electrolysis from the NHS (for free) to help the hairs from growing and it's permanent!
