Tort of Negligence - duty of care

I'm reading up on negligence and I'm a bit stuck... for example, if a child wanders away from its parents and into a road and the bystander who witnesses it runs after the child and ends up injured themselves, could they sue the parents? I'm finding it difficult to find relevant case law :frown:
