Isn't salt bad for you?

Well im not sayign that you need to eat a sachet of salt but you should drink something isotonic to replenish your salt needs for the concentration of your blood (thats what my colleague told me to do when i had intense cramps in the middle of the night).

Bleurgh I hate it when you get cramp in the middle of the night, it's agony and you know you have to move to make it go away but the pain's so intense it's difficult to move. Try not to move a joint/limb suddenly when you wake up as I find this triggers my leg cramps.

I've had that before - it's so horrible and it goes on for ages. I even screamed but my parents didn't even wake up to see if I was being killed!
Salt is bad for your heart in extreem doses, but everybody needs some salt in their body otherwise it leads to all sorts of problems, not just cramp. That's why you should give people who have had a fever, got dehydrated, had food poisioning and who have lost a lot of water or been sick etc. boiled water with little salt in to get their salt balance back even again.

I've heard that bananas are good for cramp you could try that. They say that cramp can last up to 15 minutes and be terrible pain.

Ohh I hate that, yeah it's deffo cramp. Last time I had it, it was in my calf - I had to crawl around on the floor cause I couldnt put any weight on my foot, it lasted for ages and was agony! :frown:

Ohh, i get that too - i thought it was because my Dad ran ove rmy foot with the car but now i get it on both legs so it can't be.

Try pulling your toes up which will stretch the leg muscle, it usually helps me.

Hehe i just usually curl up in agony and tightly clench my toes reeeeally tight...that usually withers away the pain. Once i woke up, got out of bed and the cramp from before weakened the calf muscles so i just crumpled to the floor like an idiot! hehehe!
My fiancé woke up screaming in my ear one night, it took me a few minutes to wake and realise he was actually in pain  silly me!

He says it's really bad. :frown:
